Gino Del Guercio is an award-winning documentary filmmaker who for the past 25 years has been producing documentaries for PBS, A&E and the Discovery Channel. Prior to The Surgeon and the Saint, his most recent film was a feature-length documentary entitled Abandoned in the Arctic. This film, which won the Sir Edmond Hillary prize at the Mountain Film Festival last year, is about a young man who travels to within 400 miles of the North Pole, to discover whether his great great grandfather should be held responsible for the deaths of 19 of his 25 men during the winter of 1883-84.
